Is 3D really ALL THAT?
Remember when going to see a movie in 3D was exceptional and breathtaking? Things would come out of the screen and there was a real interaction between the audience and whatever was on the screen. Nowadays it seems like all movies are 3D, and yet the 3D effects are almost non-existent. A friend of mine was telling me about the time she went to see some princess movie with her little sister in 3D. "What a waste" she told me. "3D should be used for blockbusters and in action movies to intensify dramatic moments. They should be used only in movies that attract a certain audience that can really appreciate them." I certainly saw where she was coming from, but couldn't help but wonder, "who's to say that her little sister didn't appreciate the 3D effects as the princess rode away into the sunset with her Prince Charming?" It is true, however, that if so much money wasn't spent on 3D effects for children's movie, perhaps they could be further developed in other movies. Another friend of mine was very disappointed when he went to see one of the latest Harry Potters in 3D. In one scene Harry Potter and Voldemort dual with magic wands. My friend thought that an interesting 3D effect would have been to have to magic beams - or whatever they are that eminate from the wands - come out into the audience. I completely agree with that. By producing fewer 3D films, the small number of movies that would still be 3D could not only have better effects, but would also probably attract more people, effectively blowing up the box offices!
