I recently watched the movie Midnight In Paris by Woody Allen, and it is one of my most favorite movies so far. It follows Gil Pender, played by Owen Wilson, and his fiancĂ©e Inez, played by Rachel McAdams, on their vacation in Paris. Gil, a Hollywood screenwriter who aspires to be a serious writer, is magically transported back in time to 1920’s Paris, a time and place in which he yearns to live. There he meets the greats of the literary and artistic worlds such as Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Picasso, Dali, and Gertrude Stein, the magnet for all these artists. Every night at midnight, he returns to the 1920’s and begins a relationship with Adriana, played by Marion Cotillard, the lover to many of the different writers and artists. Gil also requests Gertrude Stein to read and critique his manuscript .Who could ask for a better editor! I do not want to spoil the ending for you all, but the movie is incredibly funny and imaginative, and the cast selection was perfect for this movie. Owen Wilson was a perfect contemporary version of Woody Allen, and Kathy Bates was made for the role of Gertrude Stein. You should all rent this movie and watch it - it’s a great one!
