Alvin Ailey New Years Rockin' Eve

We often go see the Alvin Ailey Company dance at City Center on New Years Eve, which is just what we did last night. It was one of the best shows I've seen. I'd been finding them a little pat and overly sentimental lately, but they have a new artistic director--Robert Battle--and there's a new brightness to them. They did a Paul Taylor dance to baroque music called Arden Court. Then was a fantastic piece, Home, by choreographer Rennie Harris that incorporated hip hop moves and house music.
